The top of the market has enterprise platforms with procurement processes that take a year. Everyone else has spreadsheets, three disconnected vendors, and a quarterly compliance audit that takes a week to prepare. We thought that was wrong.
Why this exists
The decision to build, in three observations.
Most collections software in India was built for the very top of the market. The rest of the industry runs on spreadsheets, three vendors, and a lot of agent memory. The middle of the market deserves better.
Every recovery operation we've seen has the same five channels (WhatsApp, SMS, voice, email, field), the same compliance posture (RBI, DPDP, TRAI, DNC), and the same workflow shape (DPD-led bucketing, calling, field, settlement, legal). The fragmentation of tools is artificial — convergence is the natural state.
Collections software is mostly dashboards that show a score after the fact. Decisioning, attribution, and experiments — the actual loop — are usually missing. We built Smart Collect as an orchestrator to ship the loop, end to end.
